I've decided to make some of my Photoshop textures available for free - yes 100% free!
All you do is email us and we’ll send you the password so you can download the images. Simply click here and put “TEXTURES” as the subject and we’ll send you the password within 24 hours – and no, we don't share email addresses with anyone else. Guaranteed. I shall be adding one free Photoshop texture a week for the foreseeable future, so once you have the password, you can download any of the available textures at any time. Over the last 4-5 years I have used these free Photoshop textures/backgrounds to create some awarding-winning images, including my Associateship Distinction from the Royal Photographic Society – you can see them in use here and here. The free Photoshop textures are largely based on surfaces of external plastered walls shot near Studio Lavalette and for me at least, tell a story in their on right. But…when you fuse them with other images, they take off in a completely different direction and come alive in ways I never expected. In addition to walls, each texture has a combination of skies, plants, trees, branches, colour-toned layers, scratches made by me... and lots more. There’s tons going on each texture. All the free Photoshop textures are:
3888 pixels by 2592pixels
TIF files,
around 30Mb in file size;
unsharpened - so you can sharpen them your way and when you want; and
named after towns and villages near Studio Lavalette.
If you want to calm-down a texture’s influence on your main photo, simply add a solid white Layer, then set the Blend Mode, (for that Layer), to “Soft White”; and the Opacity to around 35%. Enjoy!
